You're Invited To Try The New Sidebar
UPDATE: The opt-in period for the new sidebar has closed as of October 7th. Thank you to everyone who participated in this early opt-in period. The feedback we’ve received so far has been invaluable in helping us improve and optimize the sidebar. Please continue sharing your feedback! Moving forward, we’ll now be rolling out the new sidebar to a wider pool of deviants, so no more need to opt-in. Again, thanks so much to those who participated for helping us create a better DeviantArt experience! You’re invited to try a brand new sidebar that gives you quick access to some of your favorite features and groups! The Goal of The New Sidebar There are several ways to browse and consume content on DeviantArt, and with this update, our goal was to create a consistent experience across Browse (New and Popular), Search, Daily Deviations, Topics, Groups, and most importantly, deviants you watch. Bringing more attention to Groups was a big part of this update, and we have plenty more planned

Hey guys, today I want to talk about Mature Content on deviantART and hopefully clear up some misconceptions that exist around it. For those of you eager to look at some boobs and hot male torsos, I'm afraid I won't be including any here :petting:.
How the mature content filter works
All members over the age of 18 can choose to enable or disable the mature content filter to suit their needs. All members with a registered date of birth under the age of 18 have the mature content filter locked on and can not disable it. All logged out visitors have the mature content filter enabled and can not disable it.
The mature content filter is split in
To you little whining shits, calm down about tits on a character. Fucking aye. I don't care if it's a dinosaur and dinosaurs don't have tits. It's an anthropomorphic creature, it can have ten tits and three dicks if the creator wanted.
Bet you clicked on it cuz you thought she was up your alley but then saw she had a weapon she could spear your sorry ass with so are crying about it. Never in all my days have I seen so many whinebags cry over something so minuscule as lumps of fat on a character's chest.
If there's a rock nearby, please do yourself a favor and crawl under it, because you obviously have no fucking clue that breasts, dicks, a

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ARTIST'S KNOWLEDGE IN COPYRIGHT DISPUTES
In my previous journal I wrote about an art misuse case which has now been successfully resolved. It was not a pleasant experience but looking back I feel that it was very necessary. I learned a lot about dealing with art misuse and theft cases. I think the other party also learned something.
As unfortunate as it is, I think it is vital for an artist to experience a case in which their art has been stolen or misused. The party that is using copyrighted content without permission often tries to manipulate and scare the artist into submission. This is where the importance of knowl

Should You Become a Professional Artist?
Community Week
Do you enjoy art passionately and are considering doing it as your job, but have some worries such as;
 Will I enjoy it as much as a job?
 Will it be hard getting a job?
 Will I become a starving artist?
If you're like me, you're asking yourself those questions and are letting them give you a hard time deciding whether or not to pursue art professionally. My health teacher told me, as we digressed from our topic of smoking, that to know whether or not you want to do a job, you have to hear what it's like from someone who's already doing it. That's why I decided to do an interview wit

With all of the scamming that's going on recently, it's becoming more and more important to vet your buyer to ensure they are who they say they are on their PayPal account. It's no mystery that PayPal doesn't care about their sellers, and even less about sellers who sell digital content. An unauthorized transaction dispute can throw a serious wrench in an artist's online business.
So what can we do about it?
The most basic form of proof: the signed contra

Everyone refunded! ETSY SCAM ALERT
THIS IS A WARNING FOR EVERYONE WHO SELLS THEIR OWN ART OR GOODS! Although the scam took place through Etsy anyone can be a target!
LATEST UPDATE:
And probably the last because there's great news! EVERYONE who got scammed is getting their money refunded! I didn't get a personal email but I checked my account and yes, it looks like I get the remaining $160 back as well INCLUDING the chargeback costs PayPal charged me. :D
Although it'll take time to get over this terrible dilemma and build trust again, especially for the artists who almost lost a grand deal of money and need it badly and might still be dealing with the aftereffects, this i

The Myth of Talent
If there's one comment that is made more often than any other on any decent piece of artwork it's "you're so talented."
It's also the one [positively intended] comment I've seen the most artists bristle at, sometimes even retort. For some of us, it's a pet hate. Why?
We know it's meant as a compliment, so we smile and say thank you and try to resist the urge to insist that 'talent' is the biggest myth there is. Not only is it a myth, at its worst the use of the word is potentially destructive to the artistic community.
What's so wrong with the word 'talent'?
You might not realise it, but calling someone talented can ofte
